Weekly mansion rentals in Tokyo — frequently asked questions

What is a weekly mansion in Tokyo?

A weekly mansion (ウィークリーマンション) is a fully furnished apartment rented for a short period instead of on a traditional year-long Japanese lease. Modern Living Tokyo's furnished apartments work the same way, with stays from 1 month: furniture, appliances and Wi-Fi included, and utilities through a fixed monthly fee.

What is the minimum stay?

Online bookings start from 1 month. If you need less than a month, contact us; for very short stays a hotel is usually the better option.

What's the difference between a weekly mansion and a hotel in Tokyo?

Furnished apartments have a kitchen, washing machine, work desk and separate living space — usually at 30–50% of the cost of a comparable Tokyo hotel. They're better for stays of a month or longer where you want to cook, work, and settle in.

Do I need a guarantor or deposit?

You don't need a Japanese guarantor, key money or agency fees — a valid passport is enough. There is a refundable security deposit of one month's rent, returned after you move out, less any deductions.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes. After your contract term you continue month to month until you give 30 days' notice. If you want to change your dates, our team confirms by email or WhatsApp within 1–2 business days.
